Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, awarded the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize


Colombia president, Juan Manuel Santos has been awarded the 2016 Nobel Peace prize. Santos was recognized for his efforts to end the 52 years of war with FARC rebels in his country.


Nominated for this years Nobel Peace Prize were Pope Francis, The Syrian White Helmets, German Chancellor Angela Merkel; Congolese gynecologist Doctor Denis Mukwege, Jean Nacatche Banyere,

Jeannette Kahindo Bindu - a DRC group working with survivors of sexual violence; Russian activist Svetlana Gannushkina; the people who negotiated the Iranian nuclear deal; whistleblower Edward Snowden; and Greek islanders who work to help refugees when they arrive from perilous journeys across the Mediterranean.
