The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed an application filed
by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, challenging the jurisdiction of the
Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to entertain the charges of false asset
declaration leveled against him by the Federal government.
Delivering judgment on Saraki's application today, Justice Abdul Aboki
who led the five-man panel ruled that the appeal is unmeritorious and
was then entirely dismissed. The judges unanimously ruled that the
tribunal was constitutionally empowered to entertain and try him for the
16-charges of corruption and false asset declaration brought against
him.
