Donald Trump threatens legal action against NBC over leaked 2005 lewd 'Access Hollywood' tape

U.S presidential candidate Donald Trump seemed to suggest that he'll carry out legal action against NBC for leaking a 2005 video of him making lewd comments about women to Washington Post.
Trump was asked by Fox Tv's Bill O'Reilly if there's any chance he could take legal action against NBC for the leak of the "Access Hollywood" tape, to which Trump answered: "You'll see, you'll see, you'll see after the election," Trump said.

London beats Paris and New York to be named 'the best city in the world'

According to a new poll by consultancy firm PWC, London has been named the best city in the world to live in defeating Paris of France and New York of USA in the process.
The survey by PWC was conducted on 5,200 well-educated adults with high net worth and they were described as “senior business decision makers or well-educated, high-income consumers who typically stay up to date with world events”.
PWC ensured that the pollers represented 16 countries around the world so as to make the poll results fair and just.

NNPC, Nigerian Police pledge collaboration to tackle attacks on Oil & Gas facilities

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have pledged to work more closely together to curb the attacks on oil and gas facilities across the country by militants and others.

The two agencies made this commitment this week when the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, visited the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

3 men die inside a well in Onitsha (graphic photos)

Three men tragically lost their lives inside a well at No. 1, Hanik Street, Trans Nkisi Federal Housing, 33, Onitsha, Anambra State. According to reports, the first man was hired to dig a well deeper in a bid to find water when he mistakenly slipped and fell on Monday.

His relative, Mr Usai, 32, jumped into the well in a bid to rescue him but also lost his life in the process. A third person tied a rope around his waist before jumping into the well to rescue them but quickly came out with bruises, claiming that there were forces inside the well that was 'slapping and boxing' him.

Syrian airstrikes kill 35 people, including 11 children after hitting school complex in northwestern Syria (photos)

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Syrian airstrikes hit a school in Northwestern killing 35 people, 11 children and 7 women inclusive on Wednesday night-  and the death toll is expected to rise with many in critical condition.
UNICEF, the United Nation's  agency for children, said that the strikes are a war crime.

Women group in support of former First lady, Patience Jonathan, this morning staged a peaceful protest at the EFCC zonal office in Port Harcourt, Rivers state where they called on the anti-graft agency to unfreeze her $15 million seized from four company accounts linked to her. The women, numbering about 100, stormed the EFCC’s office chanting various songs and carrying different placards and banners with inscriptions bearing their grievances.

A man identified as Okunmwendia Victor was also arraigned today before Justice P. I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Benin City on a three count charge bordering on fraud and obtaining by false pretense. Okunmwendia 29, a graduate of Delta State university is alleged to have presented himself as Sister Julia Imoke, founder and coordinator of Happy Home Orphanage in his attempt to extort money from unsuspecting persons.

Senate amends CCT act

The senate has amended the act establishing the Code of Conduct Tribunal. At the plenary presided by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, the senators passed 14 amendments to the Act. According to The Cable, the senate amended section 3 of the Act thus:

'New NPFL league season will kick off December' - NPFL chairman Shehu Dikko reveals

Mansa Shoprite in Zambia burns to ashes (photos)

Fire has swept through Mansa Shoprite branch in Luapula Province of Zambia, destroying properties worth millions. The fire outbrake which happened yesterday, October 26, between 20:00 hours and 21:00 hours had reportedly given the Zambian fire service operatives’ tough time in putting out due to the unavailability of water, reports say.

According to reports, the cause of the fire emanated from the store room and the value of the property destroyed have not been established yet. Meanwhile investigations have been instituted in the matter to what brought about the fire out brake.

Justice Tukur Mu'azu of the Kaduna State High Court has convicted and sentenced the immediate past sole administrator of Kaura Local Government, Kaduna State, Ibrahim Akut Baba to seven years imprisonment for offences bordering on obtaining money by false pretence.

Bukola Saraki loses bid to stop his CCT trial

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed an application filed by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to entertain the charges of false asset declaration leveled against him by the Federal government.

Delivering judgment on Saraki's application today, Justice Abdul Aboki who led the five-man panel ruled that the appeal is unmeritorious and was then entirely dismissed. The judges unanimously ruled that the tribunal was constitutionally empowered to entertain and try him for the 16-charges of corruption and false asset declaration brought against him.

'If I were a Supreme Court judge, I would have ordered Amaechi's arrest' - Segun Oni says

In view of the recent arrest of some judges over allegations of corruption, former Ekiti state governor and Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Segun Oni says if he was a supreme court judge, he would have arrested former Rivers state governor now Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi.

Photos: Woman reportedly drugged with poison-laced flyer along busy Nairobi road

An unsuspecting young woman on Wednesday, October 26th, became a victim of a conman and their trickery after being given a flyer along Uhuru Highway.
According to local media reports, she was stuck in traffic when a man approached her and started talking to her about the benefits of losing weight and then handed her a flyer before disappearing.
Moments later, she started feeling dizzy and decided to park her car on the side of the road to seek help from passers-by. It was then discovered that the flyer she was given had been laced with poison.
