Appeal Court nullifies monthly environmental sanitation in Lagos
The Appeal Court in Lagos has described as illegal the monthly
environmental sanitation exercise held in the state. Delivering judgment
in a suit filed by a resident of the state, Faith Okafor against the
Lagos State Government (Respondent) over the weekend, Justice Ugochukwu
Ogakwu of the Court of Appeal said their was no law written in the
state that validates the restrain put on members of the public not to
leave their homes between 7am to 10am as instructed by the state
government during any of the monthly sanitation exercise.
Passengers in an airplane scamper as snake drops out from an overhead locker
Passenger aboard a flight in Mexico were left scared after a 3ft snake
appeared in an overheard locker in their plane. On sighting the reptile,
passengers unbuckled their seat belts and ran in panic causing the
plane to be given a priority landing.
The snake was trapped with a blanket provided by the fight attendants
until the plane was successfully landed. Then animal control workers
rushed into the plane and captured the reptile.

Multi-party democracy is the best for Nigeria –says President Buhari
President Buhari Monday, noted that multi-party system remains the best
option in Nigeria’s democracy considering the diverse population of the

Police arrest 4 members of dreaded Awawa cult group in Lagos (Photo)
Four members of a dreaded cult group named Awawa, in Kadiri area of
Agege, Lagos, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
The state’s police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, while confirming the arrest of the suspects to Tribune, noted that the Dopemu command had been alerted through a distress call by the residents of the area, who disclosed to the operatives that cult members known as Awawa were terrorising them and passersby around the area.

sentenced an octogenarian, Mr Oluwafemi Fagbemi, Tobi Ojo, Famutuwa Femi
and Tope Olatunji to death for murder.

Supreme Court upholds Seriake Dickson's election as Bayelsa State Governor
The Supreme Court today Tuesday, November 8, upheld the election of
Seriake Dickson as the validly elected Governor of Bayelsa State.
The seven-member panel of judges led by Justice Tanko Muhammad gave the
ruling following an appeal brought before it by the All Progressive
Congress (APC) and its Governorship Candidate in the December 5, 2015
election, Timipre Sylva.
The panel members said they will deliver a detailed judgement on
November 18.

Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude hits central Okalahoma
An earthquake measured at 5.0 magnitude struck the town of Cushing in
the northeast of Oklahoma City damaging several buildings. There have
been no casualties so far in the quake after the heavy tremors were felt
as far away as Texas, Kansas City, Missouri, and Arkansas when it
happened at about 50 miles (80km) of the city at 19:44 local time (01:44
GMT Monday).
The Cushing Police Department in a statement, reported that the shakes caused ‘quite of bit of damage’ from the earthquake and said parts of downtown were being evacuated due to gas leaks.

Fire destroy residential building in Maryland, Lagos state
Fire broke out this morning at a residential building in Mende, Maryland, Lagos State. The
cause of the fire is still unknown but the Lagos State Fire service

Residents of Ikorodu community in Lagos state are currently staging a
protest following the decision of the state government to ban the
LAGBUS(red buses) from plying their route which already has the BRT
(blue buses) plying it.
Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, at a press conference on Friday, said the decision was taken ahead of plans to introduce Intelligent Traffic System along the BRT corridor in the state.
Elegushi said consequently, all LAGBUS would no longer be allowed to load or drop passengers along the BRT corridor, pointing out that it was part of steps taken to relocate all other franchises from the use of the corridor.
